Glass art fetish anyone?

I’ve always been fascinated with crystals, glass, sparkling stones and cute baubles of all sorts. I have collected tons of special trinkets and beads and interesting things that catch my eyes and fancy. With a little sprinkle of creativity, these little delicate treasures can be made to something pretty yet durable for all jewellery lovers to enjoy.

One of my favorites are glass beads. They have evolved overtime- they are probably the most ancient forms of art. From murano glass beads originated and perfected in the island of Murano in Venice, Italy (thus the name) dating back to 1200th  to the torches of the very creative and talented local glass artists of today’s day and age- they have presented beauty and pure craftmanship that  made their way to the hearts of glass art jewellery enthusiasts. In the fashion today, we have seen the revival of this art form, as people rediscover their beauty and vibrance. Artists have honed their crafts and perfected the technique and art of glass jewellery making. While my dream is to able to make my own lampwork glass beads, I’d be happy and content for now casting my magic and spell in turning these beads into something beautiful…

Here are some of my prettiest collection to preview what’s cooking at my bead shop!

  1. I have to admit that I’m head over heels over the cane glass beads. I want to eat them up — so pretty!!! I can’t wait to see what you’ll do with them. :)

  2. Hi Tita Joy, thanks for the comment. I must say that the feeling is mutual when it comes to cane beads. At first when I saw some finished products at one of the stores I went to in Toronto, I said – okay, they are nice materials to work with… but when I saw one of the top makers of furnace cane beads in the US at the beadshow in Langley, I was BLOWN AWAY!!! You are so right! They look so yummy you want to eat them up! I finished 3 bracelets last night/morning and really hope that I gave justice to these beautiful beads! Stay tuned, I’m posting photos later!

  3. Those are very lovely glass beads. I cannot find that much here. Is that plenty in the Philippines? I am a collector of silver and other stuff. Those are very nice gift ideas to give friends.

  4. Hi Glen… thanks for stopping by. Aren’t these glass a beauty! These furnace glass beads are from the US, actually. I got them during a Beadshow here in Vancouver. Have fun collecting! I’m an avid one myself.
